description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately determine focused object images which are focused for every pixel from a plurality of object images photographed at different focus positions, and accurately generate all-in-focus images. SOLUTION: An image processor 3 processes a plurality of differently focused sample images which are photographed by a microscope 2 to generate an all-in-focus image. At this time, based on the amount of lightness changes for every pixel of edge parts in each sample image, an edge part focus determination part 352 determines a focused sample image at the pixel. An edge neighborhood focus determination part 353 determines a focused sample image at the pixel based on changes with changes of the focus position of a lightness value for every neighboring pixel of edge parts in each sample image. An all-in-focus image generator 355 extracts pixel values of pixels of edge parts and neighboring pixels of edge parts from the focused sample images and synthesizes them to generate an all-in-focus image.
