IMAGE DISTORTION CORRECTION DEVICE, IMAGE READING DEVICE, IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the correction accuracy of distortion correction of a scanned image. SOLUTION: In an image distortion correction device where the distortion of scanned image read from a book manuscript mounted on a contact glass by an image reading means is corrected on the basis of a figure of a letter line extracted from the scanned image, a variance value of a histogram which is prepared with a main scanning direction as a lateral direction by counting in the sub scanning direction the times when a deeper pixel and lighter pixel than a predetermined concentration value among the scanned images turn over and a variance value of a histogram which is prepared with a sub scanning direction as a lateral direction by counting in the main scanning direction the times when a deeper pixel and lighter pixel than a predetermined concentration value among the scanned images turn over are compared each other, thereby, the letter discrimination means discriminates whether the manuscript is a laterally written letter or a vertically written letter.
