PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator further improved in usability by calling user's attention during the quick freezing of a storage compartment to surely notify the user of that effect with respect to the refrigerator having quick cooling. SOLUTION: The refrigerator has a body including thermally-insulated and divided storage compartments, a detecting means detecting a temperature of food in the storage compartment, an automatic quick freezing function for automatically quickly freezing the storage compartment when it is detected that the food has a temperature higher than a given temperature, and a recognizing means disposed on a door, and further includes a function for allowing the user to recognize the presence or absence of the action of the automatic quick freezing function by the recognizing means. Thus the quick freezing can be confirmed at a glance by anybody by the recognizing means when the automatic quick freezing function of the storage compartment is operated, and the refrigerator of high usability can be provided.
