description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform control for reducing a number of revolutions of an engine according to an operating status of a work machine from a number of revolutions that an number of revolutions indicating device indicates, as well as to prevent damage of a DPF caused by reduction of the number of revolutions of the engine, when burning and removing particulate matters collected by the DPF to regenerate the DPF. SOLUTION: An engine control system 4, when a mode switching device 41 selects an auto-idle control, reduces a number of revolutions of an engine 1 to a low speed rotation number, when predetermined time T1 elapses after all operation levers have been positioned to a neutral state. Further, the engine control system 4, even when the predetermined time T1 elapses after all operation levers have been positioned to the neutral state, while a filter 32a of an exhaust gas post-treatment apparatus 32 is being regenerated, does not causes the number of revolutions of the engine 1 to be reduced, and control the number of revolutions of the engine 1 to a number of revolutions that an engine control dial 41 indicates.
