Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polyarylene-based copolymer which has improved heat-resistance and is excellent in proton conductivity, and further is excellent in durability or chemical stability. SOLUTION: An aromatic compound is expressed by formula (2) (wherein A, D are each a direct bond, -CO-, -SO2- or the like; R1-R16are each hydrogen, fluorine, alkyl or the like; and R is a divalent organic group including a nitrogen-containing aromatic ring structure; X is halogen excluding fluorine; H01shows at least one structure chosen from structures represented by formula (3) and the R; l, m are each an integer of 0-4; n, p are each a composition ratio, and n+p=1 provided that n, p are not 0 together; and q is a positive integer).
