description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movable breakwater which is equipped with a simple mechanism capable of decreasing a wave-dissipating opening ratio α. SOLUTION: In this movable breakwater 1, a tubular body 5 having an outside diameter larger in dimension than a width of a gap formed between a steel pipe 6 for floatation and an adjacent steel pipe 6 for floatation is provided on the bay outside of the gap. The tubular body 5 is suspended by a connecting implement and can float in a horizontal direction. Thus, the tubular body 5 is pressed between the steel pipes 6 by a force of ocean waves, so as to close the gap between the steel pipes 6 and prevent the intrusion of the ocean waves into a bay, during spilling wave in which the ocean waves are directed to the inside of the bay from the outside of the bay, in inclement weather; and on the other hand, the tubular body 5 is pushed out to the outside of the bay by the force of the waves, so as to open the gap between the steel pipes 6 and discharge ocean water to the outside of the bay, during back rush in which the waves are directed to the outside of the bay from the inside of the bay.
