IMAGING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD THEREOF AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quality of dust position information by: capturing the opportunity of detecting a dust position even while a user is not conscious of the detection; and acquiring the dust position information. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging device for performing photoelectric conversion upon a subject image; an imaging section for producing an image signal from the imaging device; a foreign substance detection section for detecting, from the image signal captured by the imaging section, foreign substance information that is information about a position and a size of a foreign substance inside an imaging screen of the imaging section; and an auxiliary foreign substance information detection section which exposes the imaging device in an over-exposure state, causes the imaging section to produce a highlight-clipping image and detects auxiliary foreign substance information, which becomes a support of the foreign substance information, from the highlight-clipping image.
