SOLUTION: In this reinforcing method, at least a pair of small bore steel pipe piles 14 are provided in the vicinity of the upstream side and the downstream side of the pile bent bridge pier 12 installed on a river bed to dispense with a temporary cofferdam and suppress increase of the percentage inhibition of cross-sectional area of a river due to the installation of the small bore steel pipe piles 14 to the minimum possible extent during construction and after construction. At least the pair of small bore steel pipe piles 14 and the pile bent bridge pier 12 are mutually connected by a precast connection beam 16 to provide necessary bearing power. The small bore steel pipe piles 14 adjacent in the direction of bridge axis or the precast connection beams 16 are mutually and integrally fixed by beams 18 having a connection truss structure, and the whole reinforcing structure 10 of the existing pile bent bridge pier is formed into a rigid frame structure to ensure the horizontal strength required in case of an earthquake.
