Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple-section magnet for a magnetic resonance imaging system. SOLUTION: Systems, methods and apparatus are provided through which in some embodiments a magnetic resonance imaging system includes at least two cryostats 104 and 106, each cryostat having a portion of a superconducting coil 102. Some embodiments provide force balances 314 and 316 between sections 304 and 306. Some embodiments provide an ability to use more efficient superconducting coil geometry which would otherwise physically trap the gradient between the coils.
