description | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbing material which has a granular shape and practicality though the adsorbing material has a honeycomb structure on the inside thereof, which has a small pressure loss and a large contact surface area per unit volume when contacted with a gas or a liquid. SOLUTION: A method for producing the honeycomb adsorbing material comprises the steps of: adding water and a water-soluble organic solvent to a mixture of a porous adsorbing substance, a phenolic resin and a clay mineral together with a water-soluble cellulose ester derivative and kneading them; feeding the obtained kneaded material into an extrusion molding machine to extrude the fed kneaded material as a tubular material having a plurality of through-holes of 1.8-11 mm diameter on the inside thereof; preliminarily drying the tubular material so that a loss on drying before the tubular material is cut becomes 10-35 mass%; cutting the preliminarily-dried tubular material by a cutter; and heating/drying the cut tubular material to obtain the honeycomb adsorbing material which has the plurality of through-holes, each of that has 1.8-11 mm diameter and 1/4 to 3/1 ratio of length/diameter and is extended from one end of the cross section to the other end, and has an outside surface area per 2 liters unit volume 1.5 to 4.0 times that of a bar-shaped pellet having the same shape.
