Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface protective film which is excellent in adhesiveness, which hardly causes contamination to an object to be stuck and further which is excellent in transparency. SOLUTION: The surface protective film includes an adhesive layer and a base material layer, and at least one outermost layer of the surface protective film is the adhesive layer. The base material layer contains a thermoplastic resin and the adhesive layer contains a copolymer of ethylene and a vinyl compound (I) expressed by general formula CH2=CH-R, wherein R represents a secondary alkyl group or a tertiary alkyl group or an alicyclic hydrocarbon group.
