IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM AND ENCODER SCALE FOR USE IN IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a configuration which can easily correspond when failure occurs owing to the adhesion of contamination or the like to an encoder scale and carry out management of the encoder scale at a low cost, and to provide an image forming system using the same. SOLUTION: The image forming system, including a recording head for forming an image on an recording medium, a carriage for scanning in a direction orthogonal to a conveyance direction of the recording medium, a measurement part keeping a strip of encoder scale with a predetermined pattern installed along the carriage in a scanning direction, and a detection means for detecting the predetermined pattern of the encoder scale by scanning integrated with the carriage, and for detecting the position of the carriage according to a detected result of the detection means, comprises a storage part which is provided on one end side of the measurement part and stores the encoder scale and a fixing member which is provided on the other end side of the measurement part and can optionally hold the encoder scale.
