TRANSFORMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformer capable of reliably securing the insulation distance between primary and secondary coils required by a safety standard with a simple structure without increasing outer dimensions. SOLUTION: The transformer comprises: a first bobbin 1 where a terminal 5 in which a mount edge 5b projects from a first terminal fitting section is internally mounted, where the first terminal fitting section 6 is formed integrally with the edge of a first winding section 4 around which a primary coil 3 is wound; a second bobbin 2 where a second terminal fitting section 13 is formed integrally with the edge of a second cylindrical winding section 11 around which a secondary coil 10 is wound; and a first core 8 inserted into hole sections 4a, 11a in the first and second bobbins. The outer periphery of the primary coil in the first bobbin is covered with a covering layer 9 for electrical insulation and a dimension (a) reaching the mount terminal 5b from the secondary coil of the first terminal fitting section is set to not less than an insulation distance required for safety.
