PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a patient or a person under treatment not only to watch TV but also to enjoy a content of a video, a game, etc. by on-demand distribution and to utilize the Internet and an e-mail. SOLUTION: In a hospital or other medical institutions, an STB (set top box) and an information terminal are installed at a chair for each patient or person under treatment in a connected state. A general TV line and a private VOD line are connected to each STB, and portal service system software is mounted to each STB. Each information terminal is connected through an internal network. Thus, the patient or the person under treatment can be provided with services along a menu of the portal service system software in various kinds of time zones. Consequently, not only amenity environment and medical environmental of the patient or the person under treatment are improved but also problems on the medical institution are solved. For example, the patient or the person under treatment can watch TV, enjoy the content of the video, the game, etc. by on-demand distribution (VOD) and utilize the Internet and the e-mail.
