READING DEVICE AND READING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high readability by eliminating the influence of disturbance light reflected on the surface of an object without constraining operability and the degree of freedom or raising a price in reading the object to be read, in a reading device and method for emitting the rays of light to the object to be read such as a bar-code of direct marking formed on the surface of an object such as a metallic object, and for correctly reading a signal from the object to be read by using the reflected rays of light from the object. SOLUTION: This reading device is provided with a housing 1 including a light radiation part for radiating the rays of light to be emitted from an internal light source 3 to the target of an object to be read and a light receiving part 33 for receiving the reflected rays of light from the object to be read to read the object to be read. A diffuser 4 is mounted on the top end of the housing 1 for diffusing the illuminating rays of light from an external light source 9, and for transmitting the illuminating rays of light at a fixed rate to make them incident to the object to be read.
