PON SYSTEM AND REGISTRATION METHOD OF TERMINAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and surely register a terminal which intends to subscribe to a PON system. SOLUTION: In the PON system wherein a plurality of terminals 2 to 4 connected to a station side apparatus 1 via optical fibers 5, 7 to 9 make communication in an UP direction at a plurality of kinds of transmission rates (L, M, H), an unregistered terminal executes discovery response at the transmission rate (L) of one kind within a discovery period wherein the station side terminal 1 recognizes the unregistered terminal.
