PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera in which a processing load required for camera shake correction is relieved. SOLUTION: The electronic camera adopts a configuration explained as follows. An imaging section applies photoelectric conversion to a subject image to generate a monitor moving picture and generate a still picture in accordance with a release operation. A camera shake correction mechanism changes a relative position between a subject luminous flux and the imaging section. A camera shake detection section detects vibration. An arithmetic control section calculates control variable of the camera shake correction mechanism on the basis of a detected value of the shake and controls the camera shake correction mechanism in accordance with the control variable. In particular, the arithmetic control section sets the control period of the camera shake to a period Tm during generation of the monitor moving picture.
