RIB REPAIR DEVICE AND RIB REPAIR METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily repair a missing part of a rib formed on a substrate for a flat display device. SOLUTION: This rib repair device is provided with a nozzle 52 with a discharge opening 520 having a width nearly equal to the width of a rib 91, and a repair material 90 in a form having both side surfaces along side surfaces of the rib 91 is discharged from the discharge opening 520. The repair material 90 contains a UV-curable resin; light from a light source is obliquely guided to regions, separated by not smaller than a distance L from the discharge opening 520, on both side surfaces of the repair material 90; and the repair material 90 is prevented from significantly projecting from the side surfaces of the rib 91. The light is not emitted to both end surfaces positioned between both the side surfaces of the repair material 90, and both the end surfaces of the repair material 90 are deformed toward the inside walls of the missing part 911 and tightly fitted to the inside walls. Thereby, the need of a post-process for removing a projecting part of the repair material is obviated, and the missing part 911 of the rib 91 can be easily repaired. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
