FIXING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image of high gloss like a silver salt photograph and to reduce power consumption. SOLUTION: A fixing device for fixing an unfixed toner image by heating ad pressurizing a recording material 1 having the unfixed toner image carried thereon, includes; a heating member 2 having a heat source 3; a pressure member 4 which is disposed opposite to the heating member 2 and forms a fixing nip area between the heating member 2 and itself; a belt member 5 which is stretched on the heating member 2 and can be circulated and is capable of conveying the recording material 1 in contact with a toner image surface of the recording medium; and a belt driver 6 which temporarily stops or decelerates the belt member after a rear end of the recording material 1 passes the fixing nip area, and returns the belt member 5 to an original state before a front end of a following recording material 1 reaches the fixing nip area.
