Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary encoder capable of obtaining output values of two or more types of light-receiving elements having different phases from angle detection slits without using a resistor-partitioned circuit. SOLUTION: The rotary encoder comprises a rotary disk plate connected to a shaft to be detected, a plurality of angle detection slits arranged at a predetermined interval in the circumferential direction of the rotary disk plate, at least one starting point detection slit arranged in the rotary disk plate, a light source and a plurality of light-receiving elements arranged so as to face to each other sandwiching the angle detection slits and the starting point between them, and an output waveform shaping circuit that outputs the output signals from the respective light-receiving elements to output square wave signals shaped therein to the outside.
