Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately measure a fracture toughness value using a microsample cut from a metal material. SOLUTION: This method of measuring the fracture toughness value of the metal material is constituted so that a fine flat plate is cut from the metal material, the slit 7 is next formed to the central part of the fine flat plate, fatigue cracks 9 are formed to both ends of the slit 7 to obtain a test piece, load is applied to the central part of the test piece through a spherical penetrator in a state that the end parts of the test piece are fixed, load and displacement are detected and the fracture toughness value is calculated from the strain energy from the start of a test to the occurrence of unstable fracture.
