description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aseismatic repair method of an existing bridge allowing a hysteresis damper manufactured beforehand as designed, to be mounted as it is in a position where an existing brace was mounted. SOLUTION: The aseismatic repair method of the existing bridge comprises column members 14 supporting a bridge girder 12; a plurality of horizontal members 15 horizontally connecting these column members 14; and a plurality of braces 16 obliquely arranged between the column members 14 and the horizontal members 15. In this case, length adjustable temporary braces 17 are arranged almost parallel with the braces 16, and after the length of the temporary braces 17 are respectively adjusted to nullify dead load stress of the braces 16, the braces 16 are removed. Instead, hysteresis braces having equivalent plastic deformation characteristics to compressive force and tensile force are mounted, and then the temporary braces 17 are removed.
