RECORDING/REPRODUCING APPARATUS AND VIDEO TITLE EDITING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform a search after recording or editing such as title coupling or unnecessary video erasure by automatically sorting video titles by groups through simple operation before recording such as ordinary video recording or timer vido recording. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing apparatus comprises: a memory unit 6 (sorting information table) for holding sorting information assigned to each of a plurality of groups sorting videos on a recording medium 7; and a system control microcomputer 1 (video title setup means) for detecting the sorting information of a group designated by operation accompanied with recording operation before recording start from the memory unit 6 and setting a title of the video to a title with sorting information adding the detected sorting information to an original title. Through simple operation of group designation accompanied with the recording operation before the recording start, the sorting information of the designated group is added to the original title of the video, thereby automatically sorting titles of videos.
