PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver that receives a broadcast program of an optional channel and displays its video image on its monitor from the first monitor rising when a power cord is plugged into a power receptacle after the purchase and a power switch is turned on. SOLUTION: When the power cord is plugged into the power receptacle in a state before channel preset, a microcomputer 60 executes channel searching processing for searching one receptible channel by detecting the presence of a synchronizing signal sequentially from a minimum channel, stores the searched channels to an internal memory 60a, and thereafter when the power switch is turned on, a broadcast program of the channel stored in the internal memory 60a is received and displayed on the screen of the monitor 90, and an automatic channel preset instruction being a next operation instruction is displayed on its display screen.
