Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which occurrence of defective attachment of a polarizing plate in a polarizing plate attaching step is improved by forming an alignment mark for attachment of the polarizing plate on the liquid crystal display device, and a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a top substrate 100a, a bottom substrate 100b, and the alignment mark 150 for aligning the polarizing plate on the top substrate or on the bottom substrate. Also, the manufacturing method of the liquid crystal display device includes: a step for forming a metal layer on a substrate, and etching the metal layer so as to form a black matrix and the alignment mark; and a step for successively forming R (red), G (green), and B (blue) color filter layers on the substrate on which the black matrix has been formed.
