description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a console assembly provided with a lock mechanism improved to fix a detachable component to a console housing. SOLUTION: In relation to the housing and the console assembly for an automobile provided with a detachable container to be housed in the housing, a handle to be moved between a locked position and a unlocked position is connected to the detachable container. The lock member can move between the locked position and the unlocked position for locking/unlocking the container and the housing to/from each other, and the lock member comprises a first lock element, and the housing comprises a second lock element to be mutually engaged with the first lock element. Either of the first lock element and the second lock element comprises a tab, and the other thereof comprises a slot. The slot is provided with a first part and a second part, and the tab is aligned with the first part at the unlocked position, and the tab is positioned inside the second part at the locked position, not being aligned with the first part.
