METHOD FOR CONTROLLING WALKING-BEAM TYPE HEATING FURNACE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method capable of reducing an error when controlling the temperature of a walking-beam type heating furnace. SOLUTION: In the walking-beam type heating furnace for heating by a heating apparatus while moving a steel slab in the furnace in a prescribed direction by a skid, the control method comprises: a process in which the temperature of the upper part atmosphere in the furnace above the steel slab is measured to calculate the upper surface temperature of the steel slab at the position where the skid is not arranged at the perpendicular lower part based on the temperature in the upper part atmosphere in this furnace, thereby adjusting the heating apparatus arranged at the upper part in the heating furnace so as to approach the upper surface temperature to a target upper surface temperature; and a process in which the temperature of the lower part atmosphere in the furnace is measured below the steel slab to calculate the lower surface temperature of the steel slab at the position in contact with the skid based on the temperature of the lower part atmosphere in the furnace, thereby adjusting the heating apparatus arranged at the lower part in the heating furnace so as to approach the lower surface temperature to a target lower surface temperature.
