The keratin or the hydrolyzed keratin of the present invention has S-sulfonated cysteine in the disulfide portion of the cystine, and the S-sulfonated cysteine reacts with S-sulfonated cysteine produced from the cysteine in hair keratin to recover disulfide bonds and inhibit the production of cysteic acid, thereby reducing the damages of the hair.
