INSERTING METHOD AND DEVICE FOR GLASS PLATE TO VESSEL GROOVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device to insert glass plates in flat and rectangular shape in the left and right grooves of a box-shaped vessel separately one by one in the vertical attitude in such an arrangement that they are supported only with their edges with the plate surfaces held out of contact. SOLUTION: The glass plate inserting method is configured so that the left and right vertical edges of rectangular glass plates G handed over by a transfer device at the foregoing stage are pinched by a pinching means 40 in such a way as able to rise and fall. In the condition that the bottoms of the glass plates G are supported by a claw-shaped supporting member 51 able to advance and retreat in such a way as free of contacting with the plate surface, only the glass plates G are made practicable to be elevated and sunk by a glass elevating/sinking means, and dislocation of the glass plates G is corrected by sensing dislocation of the left and right grooves 5, and the glass plates G are inserted into the left and right grooves of the vessel 3 separately one by one while they are supported only with the left and right side edges and the bottom edges, and each time the glass plate G is inserted into the groove, the vessel 3 is moved for one pitch to the next groove position.
