SOLUTION: When a coating liquid flows down from a coating head 11 as the liquid film, an auxiliary liquid 18 comprising an electroviscous fluid are simultaneously discharged with the coating liquid 17 to flow down as a multilayer liquid film 12. An electric field is applied from an electric field applying apparatus 16 to the multilayer liquid film 12 under flowing down to make the auxiliary liquid highly viscous to prevent the fluctuation of the liquid film. Because the viscosity of the auxiliary liquid 18 returns to the original viscosity in the application on a material to be coated, the degradation of the quality due to the air entrainment phenomenon is prevented.
