description | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method for an extralow carbon steel slab where a moving magnetic field is applied to molten steel in a mold, and casting is performed while the flowing of the molten steel is controlled, by which the flowing speed of the surface in the mold is suppressed to the optimum range, and further, the prevention in the capture of impurities to solidified shells can be promoted. SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method for an extralow carbon steel slab where a moving magnetic field is applied to molten steel composed of extralow carbon steel and discharged from an immersion nozzle 2 installed in the central part of a rectangular mold 1 using each linear type moving magnetic field generator 3 in which the moving direction of the magnetic field is the width direction of the mold, and casting is performed while the flowing of the molten steel in the mold is controlled, the frequency of the moving magnetic field is controlled within the range of 2 to 4 Hz, and the flowing speed of the molten steel injected from the immersion nozzle into the mold is controlled, and, simultaneously, the flowing of the molten steel in the wall faces of solidified shells is maintained to the prescribed one in which inclusions are not captured.
