PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for high-voltage class electrolytic capacitor which increases spark voltage of the electrolytic capacitor and is high in both of specific electric conductivity and spark voltage. SOLUTION: An electrolyte includes an organic polar solvent (C), a carboxylic acid (A) and/or a salt (B) of the carboxylic acid (A), wherein ΔH is not less than -2,320 kcal/mol which is expressed by a formula ΔH=E(G)-[E(A0)+E(D)], including formation energy E(A0) calculated by the MM3/PM3 method of the CAChe system of an anion (A0) of the carboxylic acid (A), formation energy E(D) calculated by the MM3/PM3 method of the CAChe system of an aluminum ion (D), and formation energy E(G) calculated by the MM3/PM3 method of the CAChe system of an ion complex (G) of (A0) and (D).
