A plurality of first electrodes 14 arranged on a front surface substrate 12 side and a plurality of second electrodes 22 arranged on a rear surface substrate 20 side are arranged to intersect each other. Intersection parts of the first electrodes 14 and the second electrodes 22 are enclosed partition walls 30a, 30b of a barrier rib 30 to form discharge cells 32. On the surface of a first phosphor 23a, a phosphor 23 with a pigment to which there adheres an inorganic pigment 23b having a color almost the same as a luminescent color of the first phosphor 23a is arranged in a direction parallel to an inner surface 20a of the rear surface substrate 20. On surfaces of the partition walls 30a, 30b of the barrier rib 30 enclosing each discharge cell 32 perpendicular to the inner surface 20a of the rear surface substrate 20, a second phosphor 34 having a color almost the same as the luminescent color of the first phosphor 23a is cladded.
