COMPOSITION FOR ORAL CAVITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition which is used for oral cavities, has a suitable thixotropic property, is temporally stable, and gives good senses of use, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This composition for oral cavities is characterized by containing a low substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose which has a degree of molar substitution of 0.5 to 1.0 and whose particles are uniformly dispersed in a swollen state. The method for producing the composition for the oral cavities comprises shearing and grinding a liquid suspended with the powder of the low substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose which has a degree of molar substitution of 0.5 to 1.0. And, the method for producing the composition for the oral cavities comprises a process for dissolving in an alkali aqueous solution a low substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose which has a degree of molar substitution of 0.5 to 1.0, is not dissolved in water, and is dissolved in alkali, and a process for shearing and grinding the solution, while or after adding an acid to neutralize the alkali aqueous solution.
