Zusammenfassung: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor for determining the concentration of at least one gas component, particularly, an oxygen concentration in exhaust gas from a combustion process, preferably, in exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, and an operation method of the sensor capable of attaining an increased measurement accuracy. SOLUTION: In this sensor 12 for determining the concentration of at least one gas component in exhaust gas, preferably in exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine 10, and the operation method of the sensor 12, a plasma field 24 is provided on this side of a sensor element 20 of the sensor 12 in directions of flow 26a and 26b. The plasma field 24 enables setting of thermodynamic equilibrium in the gas and formation of a uniformly short hydrocarbon chain on the rear downstream side of the plasma field 24 by the ionization effect to the gas carried therein.
