description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module manufacturing method with which the alignment of a laser diode and an optical fiber is highly accurately adjusted and a shift in optimum position due to heat stress is prevented. SOLUTION: A positional adjustment is made with an alignment device so that the connection of the optical fiber 2 and the laser diode 1 fixed on a substrate 3 are in a prescribed optimum position. The optical fiber 2 on the substrate 3 is covered with solder 4. The solder 4 is irradiated with a laser beam from a power laser so that the optical fiber 2 is fixed to the surface of the substrate 3 by the fusion of the solder. In order to release heat stress caused and remaining in the fixed optical fiber 2 and solder 4, the solder 4 is again irradiated with the power laser under an irradiating condition in which integral power is reduced.
