The method of outputting correction amounts at a time outputs backlash correction amounts at a time during reversal (S5, S11). When the correction amounts are outputted according to distance, a divided correction amount is outputted every time a predetermined distance B is traveled (S11, S13-S17). When the correction amounts are outputted as time elapses, divided correction amounts are outputted in a predetermined number of distribution cycles after reversal (S11, S18, S19). Since the method of outputting correction amounts can be selectively set according to the direction of reversal, optimum backlash correction can be performed if the backlash behavior of a shaft acted upon by gravity, etc., differs according to the direction.
