Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding apparatus which can improve bonding strength of a bonded member. SOLUTION: During friction stir welding, when a minute shifting means 123 applies a shifting force on an object 17 to be bonded to move it in the Y direction, an articulated robot 100 supporting a base body 21 is deflected by a reaction force given by the object 17 to be bonded, and then the object 17 to be bonded shifts relatively to the base body 21 in the Y direction. As the welding tool 22 shifts in the Y direction together with the base body 21, a bonding zone formed on the object 17 to be bonded can be expanded in the Y direction. Thus, regardless of a size of the welding tool 22, the bonding zone can be expanded to the action direction of the minute shifting means so that the bonding strength of the bonded object 17 can be improved.
