SOLUTION: This method comprises setting a trigger gate start point TSby subtracting a certain value α-from the beam path length of echo from the surface of the smallest diameter (journal part 109) of a hollow axle 100, and setting a trigger gate end point TEby adding a certain value α+to the beam path length of echo from the surface of the largest diameter (wheel seat part 105) of the hollow axle 100. According to this method, even if an echo reflected by a flaw 105X (flaw echo) and an echo (disturbance echo) reflected by an uneven part (corner or round part) of an inner boss part 100X are detected in a mixed state in oblique flaw detection of the hollow axle 100, the flaw echo can be precisely separated and detected.
