SOLUTION: This method for producing the clay mineral-based composite material having the physiologically active function is provided by using the clay mineral having a cation-exchanging function in gaps between its layers as a main raw material, substituting exchangeable cations or water molecules between the layers with an organometallic complex obtained by using an organic physiologically active substance as a complex-forming agent to introduce the organic physiologically active substance between the layers of the clay mineral, and the complex material produced by this method is also provided. Thereby, it is possible to realize the sustained release of the organic physiologically active substance in a good reproducibility without getting influences from the outside such as climate, water sprinkling also decrease the using amount and using frequency of the organic physiologically active substance to reduce the cost for usage and moderate the irritation to crops, soil and others such as environment.
