SOLUTION: This is the socket 1 in which the static electricity discharge mechanism is installed to make static electricity on the plug side be discharged to the socket main body 4 having a terminal on the socket side to be connected to a terminal 2 on the plug side. The static electricity discharge mechanism 8 is provided with: a discharge board 12 which is mounted on the plug opposing face 9 of the socket main body, which is formed in a board state to cover a terminal 3 on the socket side, and in which an insertion hole 13 is opened to be matched with the position of the terminal on the socket side; an insulation member 14 which is installed at the discharge board and which is formed so as to cover at least a plug opposing face 12a of this discharge board, and in which a plug hole 15 is opened so as to be matched with the position of the insertion hole; and a discharge hole which is formed in the plug opposing face (front insulation part 14a) of the insulation member, and which has a smaller aperture cross sectional shape than the cross sectional shape of the terminal on the plug side.
