SOLUTION: The method for removing the cut-off slag, is performed as the followings, at cutting off time with universal gas, especially, in the case of gas-cutting a cast slab (steel slab) to be cut off with the vertical type continuous casting, for removing the cut-off slag stuck to the side surface of the cut-off surface, a slag removal nozzle for spouting the mixture of high pressure oxygen and low pressure water from the tip end part, is set at a position faced to the cut-off slag, and a blowing pipe holding the nozzle is automatically moved at a fixed speed while spouting this mixed fluid toward the cut-off slag so as to remove the cut-off slag.
