SOLUTION: The occupant protecting device includes the occupant protector to be actuated for protecting the occupant when a vehicle has made rollover, and is equipped with a rollover angle sensor (rollover angular velocity sensing means) 1 to sense the rollover angular velocity at the time the vehicle has made rollover and a rollover judging module (rollover judging means) 4 to judge whether the rollover possibility exists and the rollover form of the vehicle on the basis of the rollover angular velocity sensed by the sensor 1 and the rollover angle determined from the rollover angular velocity, wherein the occupant protector is actuated when the sensor 1 has sensed a rollover angular velocity equal to or exceeding a certain value decided any arbitrarily.
