Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized beam conversion element which can be manufactured with a simple process, whose manufacturing cost can be reduced, and also, which can attain a large surface. SOLUTION: Inclined planes 11a and 11b facing each other while inclining in different directions are repeatedly and alternatively formed from the incident side surface 1A of a transparent base material 1(11 and 12) to the rear side 1B, and a polarized light separation film 2 is formed on the inclined planes 11a and 11b, and also, at least a quarter wavelength plate 3 and a reflection film 4 are arranged on the incident side surface 1A of the transparent base material 1 so as to be alternately positioned corresponding to a pair of adjacent inclined planes mutually facing in the opposite direction.
