description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact connector capable of protecting a lever to release locking to a counterpart connector from various loads and preventing it from being incorrectly operated. SOLUTION: A cable side connector 1 is composed of a plurality of cable side contacts 10, a cable side insulator 20 to hold each contact, a pair of lock springs 50 to release the locking, and both upper and lower shells 60, 80 to cover each contact and the insulator. Each spring is stored in each lock spring pressing hole 29 opened in the body part 22 of the insulator. A pair of levers 31 integrally formed with the insulator operate each spring to release each hooking part 56 from the locking part of the counterpart connector. The upper and lower shells has respective lever protecting parts 66, 82 to cover the respective covers. Each cover protecting part regulates the operating direction of each lever, and an operation stopping part (the height of a slit between notches 70, 93 is lower than each height of the lever operating part 35 and the tip part 32) to prevent an excessive displacement is provided.
