description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the abolition of a bypass passage bypassing a throttle valve for increasing the work of an engine pump in exhaust braking so that an intake system can be optimally designed in an engine having a means for supplying fuel to the upstream of the throttle valve of the intake system. SOLUTION: This exhaust brake device comprises a means 51 detecting the operating amount of an accelerator, a means 49 controlling the throttle valve to a target opening according to the operating amount of the accelerator, a means 46 determining whether the operating condition of the exhaust brake is established or not, and means 47, 49, and 50 controlling the operation of the exhaust brake based on a process for cutting out the supply of fuel, a process for opening the throttle valve without relying upon the target opening according to the operating amount of the accelerator, and a process for closing an exhaust brake shutter.
