MEDIA COMMUNICATION MODULE AND MEDIA CONVERTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a media communication module which suits to a MAC (Media Access Control) frame and creates a simple maintenance frame, and to obtain a small device which easily copes with expansion or changes. SOLUTION: In a configuration in which a media access control frame is transmitted or received through an optical access line, and maintenance information from a supervisory part or to the supervisory part is inserted/extracted to a transmitting/receiving system, the maintenance information is created in the supervisory part, and transmitted to the communication module included in the specified position of a standard media access control frame 79. The communication module has a maintenance frame insertion/extraction part 71 which extracts the part of the maintenance information from the specified position, and transmits if to the optical access line as it is as a maintenance frame, and, extracts the maintenance frame transmitted through the optical access line from a terminal side, incorporates if in the specified position of the standard media access control frame 79, and transmits if to the supervisory part.
