description PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head base capable of preventing an adhesive from flowing into a recessed part for laser irradiation owing to miniaturization of the head base and of preventing the head base from losing necessary thickness, and of stabilizing an adjustment of the height of the magnetic head for assurance of the highly accurate adjustment. SOLUTION: The magnetic head base is adapted to adjust the height of the magnetic head by providing a first recessed part 2 in a part of the magnetic head base in the vicinity of the magnetic head, and irradiating the first recessed part with a light ray or heat to obtain a displacement of the magnetic head in the direction of the height thereof. In the magnetic head base, a second recessed part 3a deeper than the first recessed part is provided on the side of the magnetic head integrally with the first recessed part between the first recessed part 2 and the magnetic head, thus solving a prior art problem that the thickness of a wall of the magnetic head base for preventing the head adhesive from flowing in is reduced between a groove and the recessed parts to deform a thinner part of the magnetic head base toward the side of the recessed parts, and hence it is impossible to secure a predetermined displacement by permitting the deformed thinner part to be irradiated with laser light and to adjust the height of the magnetic head with high accuracy.
