POLARIZED BEAM CONVERTING ELEMENT AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized beam converting element which can be manufactured in simple manufacturing processes without laminating many transparent substrates and for which large-area manufacturing is made possible. SOLUTION: On main surfaces 1A and 2A of 1st and 2nd light-transmissive base materials 1 and 2, slanting parts which are sectioned in a nearly triangular shape are arrayed side by side at specified intervals so that their oblique surfaces 10 and 20 face in the same direction, and polarized light separating films 3 are formed on those oblique surfaces 10 and 20; and the light-transmissive base materials 1 and 2 are put one over the other across light-transmissive resin 4 so that the oblique surfaces 10 and 20 face each other, and light blocking parts 5 and 1/2-wavelength plates 6 are provided on reverse surfaces 1B and 2B of the light-transmissive base materials 1 and 2 at positions corresponding to the slanting parts.
