SOLUTION: Situations around the user's own vehicle including a position, a moving direction, a moving speed and the like of the other vehicles existing around one's own vehicle 1 are detected by vehicle detectors 2 to 9, and safeness in each direction is evaluated based on the situation around the vehicle. If the steering wheel is to be operated to rotate the vehicle in a direction with a possibility to contact with the other vehicle, a motor 11 of an electric power steering device provides rotation torque in an opposite direction to the operation direction of the steering wheel to a steering shaft and make the operation difficult.
